What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser when you visit. The browser sends them back to the originating server on subsequent requests, which lets the server recognize you between page loads and keep you signed in. We default to privacy-preserving choices in how we use cookies. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, track you across other websites, or sell your data. This policy describes every cookie Slate sets.

Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function. They enable authentication and security. Without them, you cannot sign in, stay signed in, or submit forms safely. They are set automatically when you use the Service and cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

slate_session

Holds your encrypted session token so that you remain signed in between page loads and across browser sessions. Set as HttpOnly and Secure, meaning it is not accessible to client-side JavaScript and is transmitted only over HTTPS. Duration: the length of your authenticated session, extended on activity. Type: first-party.

slate_csrf

A one-time token validated on every form submission and state- changing request to prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. Expires when the associated session ends. Type: first-party.

Preference Cookies

Preference cookies remember choices you have made so that you do not have to reselect them on every visit. They do not store personal information and can be cleared through your browser settings without preventing you from using the Service.

slate_theme

Remembers your color scheme preference (dark or light) so that it is applied immediately on your next visit, avoiding a flash of the wrong theme. Duration: 1 year. Type: first-party.

Analytics

To understand how visitors use slatescreening.com, we collect limited, aggregate page-view data. Where possible we derive this from server-side access logs, which requires no cookie in your browser. Where a client-side analytics cookie is set, it is configured to:

• Anonymize IP addresses before any storage
• Respect your browser’s Do Not Track and Sec-GPC signals
• Produce only aggregate, non-identifiable reports

We do not share analytics data with advertising networks. We do not use analytics cookies to build individual behavioral profiles.

What We Do Not Do

We do not set advertising or tracking cookies of any kind. In particular:

• No third-party advertising or retargeting cookies are placed on slatescreening.com
• No tracking pixels from social platforms, ad exchanges, or demand-side platforms are loaded on any page of the site
• We do not use browser fingerprinting or local-storage tracking as a substitute for advertising identifiers
• We do not sell the data collected through cookies or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising

How to Control Cookies

You can view, manage, and delete cookies through your browser settings. The steps vary slightly by browser:

• Chrome. Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and other site data.
• Firefox. Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
• Safari. Preferences, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
• Edge. Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.

If you delete or block the essential cookies listed above, you will be signed out of your Slate account and will need to sign in again on your next visit. Preference and analytics cookies can be cleared at any time without loss of core functionality.

Most browsers also let you set a preference to reject all cookies or to be notified when a cookie is set. Refer to your browser’s help documentation for instructions.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when we make changes to the cookies we use or how we use them. Material changes will be reflected with a revised “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, a notice in the product.
